About BioQuest: Guardians of Life

Explore the living world through 35 untimed missions and 105 investigations. Move Pip’s scanner through 35 illustrated locations, collect field notes and investigate close-ups of a pollinator, leaf cells and a fossil. Sort specimens and build sequences to restore the research centre.

Seven independent learning paths explore selected Grades 4–10 biology topics from South Africa’s Natural Sciences and Technology, Natural Sciences and Life Sciences curricula.

Premise and setting

The nature research centre needs new discoveries to bring its garden, greenhouse, nursery, wetland and wildlife lookout back to life. Join Nala, a young female explorer, and her drone Pip as she observes plants and animals, cares for seedlings and helps protect their habitats.

How to play BioQuest: Guardians of Life

  1. Choose Grade 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10, then choose an unlocked mission in the field journal and read Nala’s introduction.
  2. Choose Survey with Pip to find evidence in a location, then begin the investigation. Drag samples onto the matching group or tap its name. Use Pip’s guide for help aiming the scanner.
  3. Read the explanation after each investigation. Complete all three investigations to restore the location and unlock the next mission.
